Historic Texas City Directories Online

Texas Transporation Archive owns approximately 350 city directories, telephone books, subcriber lists and gazetteers for the state of Texas, and a small number of directories for other states. Selected directories are in the process of being scanned for free viewing online, and in some cases, transcribed into a text-searchable format through our Manuscript Search Engine. Business sections of directories are not posted online, but in some cases are available on a CD-Rom or DVD-Rom version of complete digitized directories offered through the TTA store. Proceeds from the sale of these digital editions go directly toward supporting the server space needed to maintain our free images.
