Wanted: Information on the Uvalde & Northern Railway

Murry Hammond is working to produce a Rusty Rails & Dusty Trails history newsletter on the old railroad that ran from Uvalde to Camp Wood, the Uvalde & Northern. I am looking for photographs to illustrate this history, and surviving family stories to personalize it. If you have any pictures or stories that you would be willing to let me copy for our publication, I'd love to speak with you by mail or e-mail or telephone. Contact: Murry Hammond (click for e-Mail) or call anytime at 818-653-4626.

Here are our needs:

Uvalde & Northern Railway, 1921 to 1941. The old railroad that ran from North Uvalde to Camp Wood, through the communities of Laguna, Montell and Kelly.

Uvalde & Northern Model A Rail Car. During the 1930's the railroad operated a Model-A converted into a railroad vehicle, to deliver mail and carry passengers. We need a photograph of this vehicle, and any stories about it.

Uvalde Cedar Company, 1921 - ?. This was the cedar-cutting company at Camp Wood, and was operated essentially in conjunction with the Camp Wood railroad, which it used to move its products to Uvalde and points beyond. The company provided "company housing" and operated a commissary store.

Thank you!
