Wanted: Information on Polk County's Sawmills & Railroads

Murry Hammond is working to produce Rusty Rails & Dusty Trails history newsletters on the following Polk County subjects. In general, I am looking for photographs to illustrate these histories, and surviving family stories to personalize them. If you have any pictures or stories on these old log railroads or sawmill life that you would be willing to let us copy for our publication, I'd love to speak with you by mail or e-mail or telephone. Contact: Murry Hammond (click for e-Mail) or call anytime at 818-653-4626.

Here are our needs:

Waco, Beaumont, Trinity & Sabine Railway (1922 - 1959), the "Wobbly." We want o produce a larger publication on this company's very interesting railroad story.

Onalaska / West Lumber Company. Looking for additional photos and stories.

Livingston & Southeastern / Knox Lumber Company (1903 - 1913). Operated a short logging railroad from Livingston to "Knox", also known as "Soda."

Providence Camp, near Livingston. Log camp for Knox Lumber Company.

Carmona. Large mill and mill town were operated by the Saner-Ragley Lumber Company.

Campwood. Logging camp in western Polk County, was also the end-of-track of the Warren & Corsicana Pacific Railroad.

Thank you!
