Wanted: Port Bolivar Iron Ore Railroad - Information, Photographs.

Murry Hammond is working to produce a Rusty Rails & Dusty Trails history newsletter on the Port Bolivar Iron Ore Railroad. The line operated from east Longview north through Omega, James (now New Diana) and to Ore City in Upshur County. The PBIO operated a Model-T rail car (pictured below) that pulled a trailer, for hauling people and mail.

The P.B.I.O. Model-T rail car at Longview, 1920's.

I am looking for photographs to illustrate the history, and surviving family stories to personalize it. If you have any stories regarding life along the P.B.I.O., I'd love to speak with you by telephone, mail or e-mail.

Contact Murry Hammond by e-Mail or call anytime at 818-653-4626. Thank you!
