Above: The Munz community and the tracks of the North-East Texas Railway as they appeared on a 1906 USGS map. Log trains were loaded at this point for movement to Gus Munzesheimer's mill at Redwater. The railroad was abandoned in 1906, and the Munz post office was closed shortly after.

Information Needed on Munz & Redwater's old railroad . . .

The TTA is working to produce a written history of the old railroad at Redwater and the Munz community in Cass County, the "North-East Texas Railway", which was built and operated by the Gus Munz / Munzesheimer family.

We are looking for photographs to illustrate the history, and surviving family stories to personalize it. If you have any stories regarding life along this railroad, we'd love to speak with you by telephone or mail. Contact Murry Hammond by e-Mail or call him at 818-653-4626.

Thank you in advance!
